Jesus Changes Water To Wine

I was reading the Book of John today, precisely the second chapter of it. As I looked at Jesus’ first miracle, I began to notice something revealing about it. First of all, Jesus can do such things, what’s termed as miracle, because he is the Word. All things were made through him. Second, is how he used these servants to bring this miracle about. I cannot think of any better word to use than to say his directions were utterly stupid, from my human point of view. He asked these servants to fill the jars with water, draw out some and take to the master of the banquet. ‘You mean to say that you want us to take water to the master of the banquet when there’s no more wine?’ They could have easily embarrassed the bridegroom had the water not turn into wine. But they were simply following instructions, instructions which seem utterly stupid and could end them embarrassing the bridegroom. They didn’t know the end result of drawing water, taking it to the master of the banquet and yet they did it. What if it didn’t work? This question has been asked by people who just want to know the outcome of their actions, even before performing it, something God’s likely going to hide so you could trust him. Lastly, the very thought of being a servant can make you follow instructions without necessarily questioning it. If we’re to see the outcome of any instruction given by God, we ought to have a servant mentality. Follow his instructions and watch what comes out of it.
